The Coco Chanel Cookie
It was her birthday. Lori handed her a cookie decorated with the Coco Chanel logo.
She frowned. “Why would you give me a designer cookie? Look at me, I’m in a foster home.”
Lori answered softly: “I may not know exactly who you are, but let me tell you who Coco Chanel was. She was an orphan. She grew up with nothing. And still, she created something beautiful that inspired the world. I made this cookie to remind you that, just like her, you have greatness inside you. Your story can be bigger than today.”
The cookie wasn’t just dessert. It was a reminder: you can rise, you can create, you can become more.
A Penny from the UK
Before leaving for London, Lori gave him a soccer-decorated cookie.
He looked up and asked, “Can you bring me back a coin?” Then he sighed: “Never mind. People say they’ll return, but they never do.”
Lori promised: “I’ll come back.”
And she did. She returned with a bag of coins from the UK and threw a little London tea party. Even her English husband, John, joined in with his accent.
The boy was so happy, so grateful, he even tried to hide in the back of Lori’s car, not wanting the moment to end.
That coin wasn’t just change. It was proof that promises can be kept, and that hope is real.
